Toyota Power Steering Emulator

Toyota Power Steering Emulator

The AGT Engineering “Canbus Emulator Mini-Toyota Steering Emulator” allows the use of the several Toyota electric power steering columns in certain conversions, in a stand alone environment, or to get rid of the wheel speed dependant assist level in race/drift car applications.

This emulator has been tested to work on the later Corolla EPS systems which do not function at all without the correct signals. The unit will also work on earlier EPS systems which can function in a 50% "fail safe" condition without a canbus emulator. The emulator will allow full control and allow up to 100% assist.

The main signals the emulator emulates is Engine Speed (RPM), and Vehicle Speed.

There are three different versions.

  • Version1: Variable assist via external speed pulse input (either wheel speed sensor or via ABS pulsed output) - This is for stand alone type road applications in a different chassis
  • Version2:  Manual adjustable assist via the on-board potentiometer knob. For stand alone or Race/Drift car applications where the amount off assist is to be fixed, regardless of vehicle speed, with a set and forget type of installation.
  • Version3:  Manual adjustable assit via remote knob. This is suited to Race/Drift car applications and allows the driver easy adjustment on the level of power assist by a variable knob that can be installed on the dashboard.

Because there are a number of different versions of EPS units from different models and years, we suggest you contact us with your EPS setup or proposed setup to see if this emulator will work for you. If unsure, you can send in your EPS unit and we can test it for you. If your unit is not supported we can look at trying to get it to work.

Please download and read the manul for a more detailed description and installation instructions.
