Dash Delete - Subaru Low Speed Canbus
Late model Canbus Subaru engines have extra security measures, including coding within the dash (instrument) cluster, that will not allow the engine to run unless the cluster’s unique security code matches the key and the rest of the system (ECU and Body control units).
The AGT Engineering Dash Delete copies all the security codes from a given dash cluster and saves them onto a memory chip within the module. Once installed on the low speed Canbus network, it emulates the security coding of the original cluster, and sends the corresponding data to the BIU unit as if the original cluster were still fitted. The use of the dash delete is for when the Canbus engine is used in an engine conversion, and the original Subaru cluster does not want to be used. The advantage of the dash delete is that it is much smaller than the instrument cluster (about the size of a matchbox) and can be hidden away. Just 4 wires are needed to connect it. +Ignition switch, ground, and the two low speed Canbus wires.
This Dash Delete module is suited to systems that utilise two Canbus networks (Low and High Speed). The dash cluster is connected on the Low Speed network so the dash delete cannot be performed by the Canbus Emulator Mini which is connected on the High Speed network.
The models this dash delete module is suited includes Gen4 Liberty/Legacy/Outback (~03-09) BP-BL model. Impreza (08-13) GE-GR, and Forester (09-13) SH model. Later models removed the Low Speed Canbus and therefore the dash cluster was wired to the High Speed Canbus network and the dash delete function can be performed by the Canbus Emulator Mini.
