Ford Ranger PX3 Raptor Canbus Translator

Ford Ranger PX3 Raptor Canbus Translator

Want to power up your PX3 Raptor and give it the engine it deserves?

The Ford Ranger PX3 to Mustang Gen3 (2018+) Canbus Translator enables the Ford Mustang Coyote V8 to work in place of the Ranger's original diesel engine while keeping the vehicles electronics fully functional and dashboard warning lamps at bay.

The main function of the translator is to re-transmit missing Canbus information and also control the 4WD and rear differential lock. The engine conversions use the OEM Mustang ECU (PCM) to control the engine and 10R80 gearbox in place of the PX3’s ECU (PCM) and TCM. A “patch harness” is used to go from the ECU’s body connecting harness, to the original PX3 ECU connector. Wiring that controlled the 4WD and rear differential lock is then wired to the Canbus Translator, along with the Canbus and power wiring.

Full integration between the Mustang PCM and the PX3 is achieved, including safety functions such as ABS/Traction/Stability Control and Adaptive Cruise.

The Canbus Translator is supplied with a wiring harness with 2metre wiring in the PX3 wiring colours at 2metre lengths for connection to the PX3 wiring. Most of the connections will be made to the wiring between the PX3's original PCM wirig and the PX3 engine bay fusebox.

  • Conversion notes

Please be aware we do not provide any wiring, mechanicals or technical advice for this conversion, apart from a brief overview contained in the manual.

This is a late model vehicle with varous sophisticated electronic modules throughout. Depending on the model and options of the vehicle, and the ENGINE ECU (PCM), some module calibrations may need to be altered and or re-synched to get everything to work properly.  We recommend consulting with an Auto Electrician/Harness shop familiar with Ford electronics and with Ford diagnostics software who can scan and rectify any module calibration issues if they arise. Software like Forscan or ford IDS is handy here.  You will also need to disable or re-link the PATS immobiliser of the new PCM to enable the engine to start and run.
